WATERLOO - Earl Joseph Lynch, 85, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Allen Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Waterloo, son of Joseph T. and Helena Glass Lynch. He married Patricia "Pat" Uthe on Oct. 12, 1957, in Williams.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1941 and was employed as a machinist with John Deere Tractor Works for 41 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a member/volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul and also was a driver for Care-Van at Covenant.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Tom of Warrenville, Ill., Mike (Rachel) of Oak Park, Ill., Patrick (Sandy) of South Lake, Texas, and Jim of Chicago; a daughter, Michelle (Tim) Oliver of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; four granddaughters, Libby, Abby, Molly and Sophie Lynch; a brother-in-law, Glen W. McClain of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Lynch of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jack, Bob, Dick and Edward; and two sisters, Margaret "Marge" (Fritz) Bornong and Helen McClain.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul or Columbus High School.
