Richard Bruce Hibben Sr. 1935-2000

R. Bruce Hibben Sr., 65, of 3808 Cedar Knoll Circle, Lot 181, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Waterloo, son of Russell E. and Ione Brown Hibben. He married Idahmae Buckridge on May 7, 1956, in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Hibben worked as a manufacturing engineer at John Deere, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Willard Keith DD775, and retired from the Naval Reserve Seabees in 1987.

Survived by his wife; two sons, James of Cedar Rapids and Richard "Rick" Jr. of Evansdale; two daughters, Rhonda Hibben of Jesup and Kimberly Ciesielski of East Troy, Wis.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his mother of Waterloo; and three brothers: Russell of Dubuque, Jimmie Lee of Deltona, Fla., and Ronald "Buck" of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a brother, Robert J.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMBETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to AMVETS Post 19 building fund.
