Obituary

Cheryl Marie (Brown) Hintzsche, 72, of Ankeny, IA passed away Monday, November 19, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Ankeny Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday at Ankeny Funeral Home.

Cheryl was born in Mendota, IL on June 4, 1940 to Edward and Ruth (Rogers) Brown. She was the second of six children born to this union. Cheryl grew up in Mendota and attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL where she met her husband John.

On June 20, 1962 she was united in marriage to John Hintzsche and the couple was blessed with four children. Cheryl was an active member of the Ankeny Women's Club for more than 30 years. She also held the positions of 5th District Director and Headquarters Secretary for the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs. She enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, many other sewing crafts, and always had a new project to show off. Cheryl's friends at the Ankeny and Ames Quilting Clubs were very dear to her. Mostly she loved her family and they held a special place in her heart.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 50 years, John; four children, Susan (Steve) Flack of Cedar Falls, IA, Diane Hintzsche of Elkhart, IA, Carolyn Fisher of Washington, IA, and Joe Hintzsche of Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren, Ari, Maggie, Audrey, Aidan, Gabe, Owen, Chloe, and Lilli; brothers, David (Mary Lynne) Brown, and Kevin (JoAnn) Brown; and sister, Laurel (Bruce) Clement. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger; and sister, Connie.
