REED, REINHART, BURNETT, KELM, DIXON

Joseph E. Reed. 84, formerly a city policeman, died at his home, 1005 Fairview Avenue, at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday of a stroke and complications. He had been an invalid for the past 15 years, following amputation of both legs.

He was born Nov. 18, 1858*, in Dewar, la., son of Isaac and Katherine Reed, and married Harriet Reinhart, of Waterloo, in Waverly on Sept. 21, 1890. He had spent most of his life here and was a member of the Waterloo police department for 18 years and was later employed in the Waterloo, Cedar Falls & Northern Railway shops for 17 years.

Surviving relatives include his widow; a son, C. F. Reed, 1005 Fairview Avenue; three daughters, Mrs. E. E. Burnett, Route 6, Waterloo, and Mrs. E. L. Kelm, 1301 Jefferson Street, and Mrs. L. C. Shoaf, Dixon, Ill.; and a brother, Isaac Reed, Milwaukee, Wis.

A daughter, Mrs. G. F. Tyler. Waterloo, preceded him in death Aug 26, 1937.

The body was taken to O'Keefe & Towne funeral home.

*Gravestone at Calvary Cemetery, Waterloo shows him born in 1859. That would agree with his age of 84.
