WATERLOO - Donald W. "Bill" Sage, 84, of rural Waterloo, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Winterset, son of Donald and Elaine Gordon Sage. He graduated from East High School, Waterloo, in 1947. He married Beverly Eis in Muscatine on June 21, 1953.

He farmed for many years, then worked for IBP (Tyson) and RGIS Inventory Service.

He was an active member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, a former Black Hawk County Farm Bureau president, a county zoning committee member, and was active in other organizations.

Survived by a son, Curtis of Waterloo; two daughters, Melissa (Mike) Kruse of Kansas City, Mo., and Naomi of Rapid City, S.D.; two sisters, Ethyl Adsit of Fort Collins, Colo., and Rosemary Fliss of Waterloo; four brothers, Eddie (Juanita) of Cedar Falls, Bob of Oelwein, Ernie (Virginia) of Dunkerton and Tom (Pearl) of Pine Grove, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Mount Hope United Methodist Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
