CEDAR FALLS - Gwen E. Christensen, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Northfield, Minn., daughter of Aldo and Dorthea Gleason Kraft. She married Virgil W. Christensen on June 28, 1952, in Wellman. He died May 27, 1998.

She earned her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and was a kindergarten teacher in Wellman before marriage.

Survived by: a son, Bill Christensen of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Jane (Richard) Fosse of Maplewood, MN; three grandchildren, Amber (Eric) Wolfe of Goodyear, Ariz., Tom Fosse of Oakland, Calif., and Dan Fosse of Shoreview, Minn.; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Noah Wolfe.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation for one hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City.

Gwen loved spending time her with family. She spent many hours nurturing her numerous flower beds and vegetable gardens. She shared her love of crafts, sewing and quilting with her children, grandchildren and friends.
