Luween L. Hesse, 75, of Waverly, formerly of Readlyn, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly.

She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in rural Black Hawk County, daughter of August and Linda Meyerhoff Hesse.

Ms. Hesse had worked in child care and was a volunteer at Bartels Lutheran Home.

Survivors include two sisters, Norma Van Lengen of Waterloo and Elvira (Donald) Andersen of Cedar Falls; a brother-in-law, Waldo Meier of Denver; a sister-in-law, Gladys Hesse of Cedar Falls; 11 nieces and nephews; and extended family.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arlin Hesse; a sister, Edna Meier; a brother-in-law, Harvey Van Lengen; and a nephew, Gary Hesse.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Readlyn, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly, where there will be a 9:30 a.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church in Readlyn. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Bartels Chaplaincy Fund or to the church. Because of allergic conditions within the family, memorials are requested in lieu of flowers.
