Dennis D. Damsgaard, 83, of 1500 W. Ridgewood Drive, died Oct. 19, 2000 at Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, Texas, of congestive heart failure.

He was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Galva, son of Alfred and Dora Damsgaard. He married Miriam Beckhoff on June 29, 1944. She preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves during the Korean War. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Iowa and his law degree from Drake University. He was appointed as a judge of the 1st Judicial District Court, State of Iowa, and presided from 1972 to 1985.

Survived by a son, Mark Dennis of Littleton, Colo.; and a daughter, Mary Victoria Damsgaard of San Antonio.

Preceded in death by a sister, Norma Johnston.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rotary Reserve.
