C. Robert Cronk, 53, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Iowa City, died of an apparent heart attack Saturday at San Diego, Calif.

He was born at Waterloo Sept. 9, 1932. At the time of his death he owned a San Diego printing company. Prior to that he had been executive director of Project Concern in San Diego from 1971 to 1983. He had been executive vice-president of the United States Jaycees and state president of the Iowa Jaycees in 1961. He was a life insurance underwriter when he lived in Iowa City.

Survivors include seven daughters, Judy Cronk of San Jose, Calif., Lisa Ross of Baltimore, Marta Cronk-Hopkins of Mission Viejo, Calif., Andrea O’Brien of San Diego, Rachael Cronk of La Mesa, Calif., Monica Heskett of El Cajon, Calif., and Natalie Cronk of Iowa City; five sons, Clifford and Ken, both of Littleton, Colo., Christopher of La Mesa, Calif., Dennis of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Tom of Iowa City; his mother, Marie
Cronk of Bloomfield; one sister, Beverly Dillner of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Featheringill Funeral Home, San Diego, Calif. Burial at San Diego.
