WATERLOO - Shirley D. Bowden, 65, of Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000 at the care center following complications of brain cancer.

She was born July 5, 1935, in Black Hawk County, daughter of George and Hilda Miller Savage. She married James L. Bowden on June 3, 1950, in Cedar Falls. He died Sept. 20, 1993.

Survived by her mother of Cedar Falls; two sons, Terry of Raymond and Gene of Tacoma, Wash.; three daughters, Roberta Bowden, Debra Williamson and Diana Adelmund, all of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Geweke of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her father; a daughter, Sherry Bowden; and a grandson.

Services: 10;30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Assembly of God Church, Elk Run Heights, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garden View Chapel and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
