Dorothy Elizabeth Panther, 91, of Waverly, formerly of Waterloo and Lacona, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Waverly Health Center.

She was born April 11, 1921, in rural Bauer in Marion County, daughter of Samuel and Frances Seufer Snuggs. She married Raymond G. Panther on July 13, 1943. He died in 1995.

She taught county school for many years. She continued her education at State College of Iowa, now the University of Northern Iowa, and then taught a few years at St. Nicholas, Evansdale, and from 1955 to 1970 at St. Mary’s of Waterloo. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Waverly.

Survived by two daughters, Jeanne (Tom) Bosman of Wausau, Wis., and Judy (Bob) Meyer of Waverly; two sons, Bob (Chris) of Cedar Falls and Doug (JoAnna) of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two grandchildren; five sisters; and a brother.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Waverly, with burial on Jan. 7 in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lacona. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with a 5 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
