ELK RUN HEIGHTS — Bobby Eugene Duffner, 71, of Elk Run Heights, died Friday, Nov. 3, 1995, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Monroe County, son of Leo and Martha Jane Cooper Duffner. He married Lois Burnham March 6, 1948, in Omaha, Neb.; she died Jan. 27, 1968.

Mr. Duffner worked for 22 years at Maytag in Newton, then was a machinist in the tool and die department for John Deere, retiring in July 1985. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the European, Asian and Pacific theaters.

Survived by a daughter, Teresa Lynn Aries of Cedar Falls; two sons, Larry Eugene of Barstow, Calif., and Garry Leo of Waterloo; and 10 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Randy and Timmy; five brothers, Clifford, Cleo, Herbert, Clyde and Bobby Duffner David; and a sister, Doris Sheldon.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, with burial at 3 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and an hour before services Monday at the funeral home. Visitation also a half an hour before committal services Monday at the cemetery, where Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655 of Newton will conduct full military rites.
