GARKOW, MILLER, VAN EATON, MCKINLEY, REILLY, GILBERT, OKEEFE

August Garkow, 82, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Isolation Hospital of complications of advanced age.

He had made his home in Waterloo with his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Van Eaton, who now lives in St. Paul, Minn.

He was born Dec. 4, 1871, in Berlin, Germany, and came to the United States as a small child. He lived in Delaware and Black Hawk Counties most of his life.

He married Martha Miller in Delaware County in 1908. They moved to waterloo 22 years ago. He was employed here by the Chicago & Great Western Railroad.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Russell, 128 St. John St.; two daughters. Mrs. Lillian McKinley, Van Nys, CaL, and Mrs. Van Eaton; three brothers, Gust, San Francisco, Albert, Coos Bay, Ore., and Phillip, Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Reilly, Detroit Lake, Minn., Mrs. Dora Gilbert, Fresno, Cal., and Mrs. Minnie O'Keefe, Oakland, Cal.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, four sisters, a son and a granddaughter.

The body is at O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home where funeral arrangements are pending.
