CALLAHAN, EGAN, KRANTZ, FERGUSON

John R. Callahan, 76, of 121 Bluff St., died at 6:15 a.m. yesterday due to complications of emphysema.

He was born Sept 30, 1891, the son of Richard and Mary Egan Callahan, Dubuque.

Mr. Callahan moved with his family to Waterloo in 1905. He married Eva Krantz Aug. 18, 1923 at Marion. He served overseas in France during World War I, in the U.S. Army. He was employed by the Sun Ray DX Oil Co. and then worked for Rath's from 1942 to 1957 when he retired because of ill health.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Becker Chapman Post of the American Legion.

Mr. Callahan is survived by is wife, one daughter, Mrs. Tom Ferguson, 123 Byron Ave.; four grandchildren and one sister, Edna Callahan, 145 Lincoln St.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. E. J. O'Hagan, pastor, officiating, rosary services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at Oppold Funeral Home and 8 p.m. tomorrow by the parish. Friends may call at the' Oppold Funeral Home after 2 p.m. today.
