BARCLAY PIONEER DIES AGED NINETY

DUNCAN CAMPBELL WAS MODEL CHRISTIAN MAN

Had The Rugged integrity of His Scotch Ancestors.

Dunkerton, la., Feb. 21.— Last night at 10 o'clock Duncan Campbell, a pioneer of Barclay Township, died at the home of his son, J. Y. Campbell, aged 90 years and 10 months. His death was due to the ills incident to extreme age. Up to Thanksgiving his health had been good.

The funeral will be held from the United Presbyterian Church in Barclay Township, of which he was a member, at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor Rev. Christian Haupt.

Decedent was a native of Scotland and came to this country in 1861. His wife died some time ago. Three sons survive—J. Y. and F. F. Campbell, living on farms near the old home, and John, who is in the hardware business in Dunkerton.

Mr. Campbell was the oldest Scotchman in this section, and was highly esteemed and revered. He was a man of modest and peaceful disposition. His death was peaceful, as all his life had been. He died strong in the Christian faith.

Decedent was born in Kenmore Berkshire, Scotland, in 1819. He came to America in 1858, and lived in Canada for three years, coming to Iowa in 1861, where he settled in Barclay Township. He was a large land owner, and a prominent and influential citizen all of his life.

In 1866, he returned to Scotland, where he was married April 30, to Margaret Young, who passed away on May 8, 1890.
