WATERLOO - Kathy Jo Lutgen, 55, of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, March 1, 2008.

She was born Jan. 26, 1953, in Waterloo, daughter of Francis "Butch" and Helene Mary Mangrich Lutgen. She graduated from Orange High School in 1971, then attended the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, graduating with a licensed practical nurse degree. She was a supervisor at the Department of Human Services, retiring in 1998.

Survivors include her significant other, John P. Kelly of Waterloo; a son, Chad Lutgen of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Chelsie White of Waterloo; her father of Gilbertville; her mother of Gilbertville; two brothers, Gene Lutgen of Cedar Falls and Don Lutgen of Gilbertville; a sister, Connie (Gary) Gardner of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Carol Lutgen of Gilbertville.

Preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lutgen; maternal grandparents, John and Leona Mangrich; and paternal grandparents, John and Susan Lutgen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
