Carol Ann Zimple, 47, of Traer, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, following a sudden illness.

She was born Sept. 15, 1963, in Waterloo, daughter of Dean Allen and Alice Mae Kupka Zimple.

Ms. Zimple graduated from North Tama High School in 1981 and continued her education at a culinary college in Cedar Falls. She later worked as a certified nursing assistant in Marshalltown. In 2009 she moved to Traer and was employed at Afina, Waterloo.

Survived by a son, Nicolas Dean Alvarez-Zimple of Traer; her mother of Traer; three brothers, Galen (Carol J.) and Kevin Zimple, both of Traer, and Larry (Alice) Zimple of Cedar Rapids; four nieces, Trusha (Chris) Shimp, Holly (Ben) Nablo, Trista Zimple and Joi Bergman; three nephews, Jason and Zander Zimple and Todd Bergman; and two great-nieces -and nephews, Kacey and Danielle Shimp and Ben Nablo Jr.

Preceded in death by her father; and her grandparents, Fred and Frances Kupka and Herbert and Ada Zimple.

Services: 7 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Traer, preceded by visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Private family burial in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial fund is being established.
