WATERLOO - David E. Grosse, 83, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Cedar Falls Western Home Communities.

He was born June 2, 1930, in Waterloo, son of Irwin and Dorothy Davis Grosse. He married Shirley Young on Nov. 18, 1972, in Waterloo; she died Feb. 24, 2009.

Mr. Grosse graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1948 and attended Cornell College. After 20 years, he retired in 1992 as supervisor for Lockard Construction. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Survived by a son Steven (Ketrena) of Locust Grove, Okla.; three daughters, Sheri Davis of Waterloo, Debra Grosse of Des Moines and Julie Grosse of Cedar Falls; two stepdaughters, Sandra (Gary) Lingenfelter of Bartonville, Ill., and Judy (Duane) Olson of Chetek, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and two sisters, Mary Strassburg of Waterloo and Ann (Larry) Hollis of East Longmeadow, Mass.

Preceded in death by a grandson.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, with entombment following cremation in Garden of Memories Cemetery mausoleum. Visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Locke Funeral Home.
