GEO. S. FERGUSON DIES AT AGE 71; PNEUMONIA CAUSE

One of Founders of Ferguson Mfg. Co., Maker of Well Drills

George S. Ferguson, 71, 302 Mobile Street, longtime resident of Black Hawk county and one of the founders of the Ferguson Manufacturing company, maker of well drilling equipment, died Tuesday at 11 p.m. in a Waterloo hospital, of bronchial pneumonia.

He had been in the hospital only a day and a half.

With his brother, Albert R. Ferguson, 150 Harrison Street, the Ferguson Manufacturing company was started in 1905 and operated in a plant on Rath Street until 1929, when the property was sold to the Rath Packing Company.

Member of a Pioneer family - George S. Ferguson was born in Potter County, Pennsylvanis, April 16, 1861, the son of Edward and Isabella Ferguson. He came with his parents to Bennington Township, Black Hawk County, Iowa, when he was about 3 years old. He married Catherine Lemper in Waterloo, Dec. 27, 1894.

Ferguson was a member of Grace Methodist Episcopal church, Modern Woodmen of America and Brotherhood of American Yeomen.

Surviving are his widow, one son, P.L. Ferguson, 302 Mobile Street; two brothers, Albert R. Ferguson, 150 Harrison Street, and Charles A. Ferguson, 1714 Franklin Street, and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Noble, Manitou, Colo.

The body was taken to the O'Keefe & Towne funeral home.
