CEDAR FALLS -- Jennie J. Hazlet, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Mallard Point Retirement Residence of natural causes.

She was born March 23, 1926, in Spencer, daughter of Levi and Nira Lake Alexander. She married Jacob Hazlet on March 25, 1944, in Salem, Ill.

A 1943 graduate of Spencer High School, Mrs. Hazlet worked as a bookkeeper for Kmart from 1968 to 1986, when she retired. She was member of Ridgeway Bethel Baptist Church.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Nira (Richard) Achey of Waterloo and Kathy (Gary) Martinson of Garwin; three sons, Jacob II (Barbara Murfield) and Steven (Linda), both of Waterloo, and David (Linda) of Grundy Center; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Muriel Perrigo of San Diego, Betty Mundt of Rochester, Minn., and Joyce Held of Marion.

Preceded in death by a grandson.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Bethel Baptist Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.
