WASHBURN - Junior Dale Palmer, 77, of Washburn, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Avery, son of Albert and Florence Koerner Palmer. He married Janet Roberts on Nov. 18, 1961, in Des Moines.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Palmer was employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works in manufacturing until his retirement.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Janon (Lori) of Washburn and Jeremy (Lara) of Eau Claire, Wis.; a daughter, Jo Linda Ponder of Black River Falls, Wis.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Madelyn (William) Carter of Albia and Carolyn Teno of Johnston.

Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Earl and Virgil; and four sisters, Lovedia, Charis, Evelyn and Marilyn.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, where visitation begins at 9 a.m., with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19.

A memorial fund is being established.
