Oscar J. McManus, about 70, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Hudson, Ia., died at 3 a. m. yesterday of carcinoma following a major operation, according to word received by Mark Humphrey, Hudson. He was a brother of the late Dr. T. U. McManus of Waterloo.

He was born on a farm south of Hudson, the son of Thomas P. and Sarah McManus, and married Grace Holmes in Hudson.

Surviving are his wife, a brother, George Henry McManus, Boston, Mass., a retired army officer who was a major general during world war 1, a sister, Mrs. S. P. Hicks, Redwood Falls, Minn., and 13 nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held in Omaha at 4 p. m. Monday, with a committal service at the grave in Hudson at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be sent by train to Tama, Ia., and will be taken from there to Hudson by the O'Keefe & Towne hearse of Waterloo.
