Merlyn Galle, 86, of Denver, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff, Ariz.

He was born May 27, 1923, in Cedar Falls, son of Frank and Edna Shields Galle. He married Helen I. Weidemann on July 9, 1943, in Waterloo. She died June 7, 1999.

Mr. Galle was a trucker for many years and retired as a bus driver for North West Tours.

Survived by two sons, Rande (Sandra) of New Hartford and Ronald (Sandra) of Waterloo; two daughters, Dorothy (Bill) Peightal of Fort Mojave, Ariz., and Rhonda (Mary Anderson) Galle of Williams, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Lochner of Austin, Minn.

Preceded in death by a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
