WATERLOO - Charles W. "Bill" Baker, 72, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was born April 9, 1936, in Sigourney, son of William Woodrow Wilson and Lucy Sines Baker. He married Nancy Lamb on July 4, 1970, in New York. She died Feb. 19, 2000.

Mr. Baker was employed by John Deere & Co. in security and investigations for 22 years, retiring in 1996. He also retired from the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam Era.

Survived by two sons, Wayne "Scott" of La Porte City and William Leonard "Bill" of Waterloo; a daughter, Kandace Suzanne Baker of Waterloo; two sisters, Lois (Keith) Troyer of Waterloo and Mary (Fred) Lehman of Des Moines; and six grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Joseph "Joe."

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of the Open Bible, with cremation to follow. Military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour prior before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
