Services for Lowell R. Junkman, 47, of 3919 Memory Lane, will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sunnyside Temple Wesleyan Church with burial at 4 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Palmer. Mr. Junkman died Saturday (July 4, 1987) in Beresford, S.D., after a heart attack.

He was born Nov. 29, 1939, near Pocahontas, son of William and Marie Habben Junkman. He married Jolene Peterson and they were later divorced. He married Karen Shogren on Dec. 27, 1985, in Denver, Colo.

He was executive director of the Mental Health and Chemical Dependent Association in Waterloo.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Junkman of Evansdale and James Junkman of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Catherine Walker of California City, Calif.; a foster son, Lucky Larry Shelton of Chicago; two stepdaughters, Lana Shogren of Cedar Rapids and Shelli Shogren of Denver Colo.; his stepmother, Helen Junkman of Manson; and two brothers, Earl and William Junkman, both of Manson.

Friends may call until 9 p.m today at Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Visitation also will be at the church for an hour before services Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Temple Christian School.
