CEDAR FALLS - Freida S. Freitag, 97, of Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, died there Firday, Jan. 31, 1997, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 20, 1889, in Enos, Ind., daughter of Wilt and Antje Janssen Schipper. She married Henry J. Freitag Dec. 12, 1920, in Huntington, Ind.

Mrs. Freitag studied at Manchester College, University of Illinois, Illinois Normal School, Indiana University, Unitversity of Iowa and Northweatern University, and was an elementary school teacher in Illinois, Indiana and Florida. She also published a book of poetry.

Survived by a son, Arnold J. of Cedar Falls; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a granddaughter; four brothers, Edward, Herman, Albert and Arnold; and three sisters, Anna Kampen, Annette Gaerte and Grace Brown.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with inurnment at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Servia, bid There will be no visitation. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
