Joyce Ann Burk Trotter, 76, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Collins and Waterloo, and Peoria, Ill.,passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at NCH Healthcare System, Naples, Florida.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Collins Christian Church, Collins. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. until the service time. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Collins, following the service. There will be a luncheon at the Collins Christian Church following the burial. Memorials may be directed to the family for donation to the Collins Christian Church and the Alzheimer’s Association. Mitchell Funeral Home, Marshalltown, is caring for Joyce and her family. Joyce Ann Halterman was born on Oct. 2, 1937, in Collins. She was the daughter of James Everett and Forrest Hester (Crabb) Halterman. She graduated from Waterloo East High School and attended Iowa State Teacher’s College, Cedar Falls, which is now the University of Northern Iowa. Joyce was united in marriage to Jerry Cass Burk on Sept. 28, 1957, in Waterloo. Jerry passed away in 1998. On Nov. 28, 2009, she married Tom Trotter in Peoria. Joyce was a member of Unity Point Health Methodist Service League and Grace Presbyterian Church. She was a member and past president of P.E.O. Chapter CZ in Peoria. She served as a volunteer teacher’s aide at Hines Elementary School, Peoria.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Tom of Naples; her children, Susan Ann (Lou Halperin) Hampel of Omaha, Neb., and James Cass (Dixie) Burk of Maxwell; three grandchildren, James Louis and Julianna Cass Hampel, both of Omaha, and Dennis James Burk of Maxwell; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Raymond Burfeind; one niece, Sarah (Joshua) Burfeind Trosclair, and their children Ella and Emma of Charlotte, N.C.; three stepchildren, Charles (Melissa) Trotter, Joseph (Kim) Trotter and Catherine (Craig) Burton; 10 stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

In passing Joyce joins her first husband Jerry; her parents, Everett and Forrest; and a niece Anna Burfeind.
