Marlene R. "Marty" Troutman, 66, of Waterloo, formerly of Hazleton, died suddenly at her home in Waterloo on Sunday, July 30, 2006.

Graveside memorial services and inurnment will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at the Hazleton (Fontana Addition) Cemetery at Hazleton. Officiating will be the Rev. John Kerr. There will be no visitation at Marlene's request. Arrangements by the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home at Oelwein.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name for the University of Iowa Woman's Athletic Program or for the Cedar Bend Humane Society in Waterloo.

Marty is survived by her aunt, Dora Rhoades of Sumner; cousins; and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, Clinton Kelley.

Marlene Ruth Troutman was born on Aug. 12, 1939, at Evansville, Ind., the daughters of Theodore and Ruth Alice (Nicholson) Troutman. She graduated from Hazleton High School in 1956. Marty worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Oelwein; as a computer operator at Gas Service Co. in Kansas City, Mo.; at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo; and later for the U.S. Sprint Telephone in Kansas City. She was a member of the American Women's Softball Association. Marty moved back to Hazleton in 1990 and had lived the last four years in Waterloo.
