LA PORTE CITY - Richard C. "Dick" Fehl, 80, of La Porte City, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center of congestive heart failure.

He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in La Porte City, son of Walter and Rhoda Brandt Fehl. He married Mildred Frost May 8, 1965, in Vinton, and she preceded him in death Dec. 24, 2004.

Mr. Fehl worked at John Deere P.E.C., retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post #207 and the La Porte City Golf Club.

Survived by a stepdaughter, Mary Lou (Tom)[Krueger] Frost of Gilbertville; three grandchildren, Frank (Shannon) Frost, Georgia (Jamie) McMahon and Tina (Tom) Hogan; six great-grandchildren, Kylie and Emma McMahon, Jake, Lexy and Charlie Hogan and Haile Frost; three sisters, Eleanor Jesse of La Porte City, Lorraine Franks of Mason City and Lois (Maurice) Case of Muskego, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Winona Fehl of La Porte City; and many nephews and nieces.

Preceded in death by his wife; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn McMahon; two brothers, Merlin and Lee; and two sisters, Edith Vorberg and Jean Melka.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Gilbertville. Graveside military rites will be conducted by La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post #207, VFW Post 3983 and Gilbertville American Legion Nugent Demuth Post #714. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Don Bosco High School, Gilbertville.
