Donald Eugene Kelly, 75, of Independence, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, from complications of cancer.

He was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Waterloo, son of Harold Defoe and Isabelle Agnes Guynn Kelly. He married Lucretia "Lucy" Ann Acuff on June 11, 1983, at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence.

Mr. Kelly attended St. Mary's Catholic School, Waterloo. He was employed at John Deere Tractor Works for 32 years. He was an equipment manager for the Royal's Drum & Bugle Corps and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Independence.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Bradley (Warren) Halverson of Maryland and Jordan Kelly of Independence; a daughter, Anna (Adam) Demuth of Independence; two grandchildren; three sisters, Joan Nielson of Waterloo, Mary Beth Meyer of Braham, Minn., and Susan (Lee) Bell of Billings, Mont.; a half brother, Roy (Debbie) Kelly of Redding, Calif.; and three half sisters, Mary (John) Massey of Clampet Falls, Ore., Eileen Young of Shasta Lake City, Calif., and Ruby (Jim) Conners of Stockton, Calif.

Preceded in death by a sister, Donna Dempster.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service. There will be no viewing at the church on Wednesday.

Memorials will be directed to the family.
