WATERLOO -- Robert C. "Bob" Reeves, 90, of Landmark Commons, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born March 11, 1923, in Des Moines, son of Carl and Maybelle Johnson Reeves. He married Lorraine Lincoln on April 1, 1951, in Fargo, N.D.

Mr. Reeves graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1941, received his bachelor’s degree in music education with a major in violin and a minor in piano from Sherwood Music School, Chicago, in 1951. He received his master’s degree in music education from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, in 1963. He was bandmaster and choral director in Shamrock, Texas, from 1951 to 1954; worked for the Waterloo Community School District for 31 years as orchestra director at East High School, Logan and McKinstry Middle Schools, retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 8th A.F. 91st Bomb Group on B-17 bombing missions in Germany during World War II. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ where he was choir director for 20 years.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Hallie Lynn Reeves of Houston; a son, Robert Lincoln of Mooresville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Megan Reeves; a stepgranddaughter, Mackenzie (Colin) Smith; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Molly Makenzie and Christopher Colin Smith.

Preceded in death by a brother, Donald Glen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Flag presentation by Iowa Army National Guard Funeral Honors. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home Inc.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Bob played first chair violin for the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra for 14 years and first chair violin for the Wartburg Symphony for 12 years. He also was the pianist for the Waterloo Kiwanis Club.
