WATERLOO -- Harold E. Arnold, 79, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Westbrook Acres, Gladbrook.

He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Toledo, son of Edward and Helen Chancy Arnold.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Arnold had been employed as a clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad from 1960 until 1983, then worked as a security guard for Hawkeye Community College until 1994.

Survived by a daughter, Michelle Tucker of Waterloo; two sons, Craig (Robin) Arnold of Cedar Falls and Rodney (Robin) Toppin of Surprise, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and Joe Tucker, Adam and Jessica Arnold, Brandon and Ashley Toppin, Candice Butler, and Katie and Curtis Land; five great-grandchildren, Haley, Riley, Joey, Chloe and Madison; a sister, Shirley Miller of Brooklyn; and a brother, Don of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Dale and Charles in infancy; and two sisters, Wanda and Alene.

Celebration of Life services: 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Waterloo Knights of Columbus Hall, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home.
