Richard Eugene Bast, 58, of Nashua, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born Sept. 16, 1954, in Cedar Falls, son of Clifford and Sally Johnson Bast. He married Liz Thompson, and they later divorced. He married Cindy Marie Wyane on Feb. 14, 1997, at their Nashua home.

Mr. Bast graduated from Nashua High School in 1973. He was a meat cutter and cabinet builder, having worked at area grocery stores, lockers and cabinet shops.

Survived by his wife; a son, Rich (Colleen) of New Hampton; a daughter, Amy Lee Bast of Nashua; a stepson, Colt (Megan Johnson) Kielman of New Hampton; seven grandchildren; his father of Nashua; two brothers, Craig (LaDonna) of Greeley, Colo., and Ronald (Melinda) of Preston, Minn.; and two sisters, Cathleen Rain of Preston, Minn., and Jeanine Hodge of Hampton.

Preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home, Nashua, with an 8 p.m. prayer service. A private family burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua.
