Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. at the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren for George H. Platt, 77, of 1226 Hammond Ave., who died at St. Francis Hospital at 3 a. m. Sunday of cancer. The Rev. Clarence E. Sink, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Hudson Cemetery.

Friends who wish may contribute to the Cancer Fund in his name. The casket will be taken from the Locke Funeral Home to the church at noon Wednesday where it will remain until service time. The casket will not be opened following the service.

Mr. Platt was born west of Hudson on May 4, 1887, He married Lena Bulthuis on June 26, 1917 in Reinbeck. He farmed west of Hudson until 1938 and then farmed at Orange Township until his retirement in 1949 when he moved to Waterloo. He was a member of the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren. He was a past president of the Hudson Cooperative Dairy Association.

Surviving are his widow, three sons, Marshall of Rt. 1.; James of Rt 4, and Robert of Rt. 1; two daughters, Mrs. John Iseminger of Hudson, and Mrs. Earl Cable of Rt. 4 Cedar Falls; one brother, Burchard of Phoenix, Ariz., and three sisters, Mrs. John Beck of 411 Sheridan Rd.; Mrs. S. M. Kiplinger of Compton, Calif., and Mrs. George Glasener of Herbster, Wis., and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one brother and one sister.
