WATERLOO - Edna Mae Hay, 92, of Waterloo, died Nov. 4, 2013, at NorthCrest Specialty Care from complications of a stroke.

She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Wilmont, Minn., daughter of Nick and Laura Aukland Gerber. She married Albert “Buss” Jensen in Illinois and they later divorced. She married Virgil Hay on Jan. 7, 1956, in Charles City; he died Oct. 21, 1980.

Mrs. Hay was a waitress in Waterloo at the John Deere Café, Vernies Lounge and the Yankee Kitchen. She also was a senior companion for many years in Waterloo.

Survived by two sons, Michael (Rita) of Haines City, Fla., and Jeffrey of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Garnet (John) Mehlert of Dysart and Sharon (Jim) McIntee of Haines City; 16 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Horan; three brothers; and four sisters.

Memorial services: 4 p.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, preceded by an hour of visitation. Private family inurnment will be held.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to charity of donor’s choice.

Edna loved to dance. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
