EVANSDALE - Robert D. “Bob” Parker, 85, of Evansdale, died at home Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013.

He was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Greene County, son of Roy and Florence E. Linn Parker. He married Joan Elizabeth Trainer on July 4, 1976, in Waterloo.

Mr. Parker worked as an electrician for Bob Parker Electric and P&D Construction for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He then worked as a Realtor. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps/Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, American Legion, VFW Post 1623, Korean War Veterans, National Association of Atomic Veterans and Air Traffic Controller Association.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Karen Parker of Chicago and Janice Brown of Des Moines; three brothers, Russell (Carol) of Winterset, Norman (Judy) of Jefferson and Marion (Jean) of Missouri; two sisters, Dorothy Boham of North Liberty and Phyllis Rosenberger of Churdan; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, David Darrow; and infant brother and sister, Marvin and Gladys.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, where visitation begins at noon. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, and the Air Force Honors Detail. Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Iowa Veteran Cemetery, Van Meter.
