[Waterloo Semi Weekly Courier, Tuesday, May 14, 1901, Waterloo, Iowa]

The remains of William Tompkins, who died in Missouri, arrived in the city last evening and the funeral is being held this afternoon at the home of D. W. King in Mt. Vernon Township, who was a brother-in-law of deceased.

Mr. Tompkins formerly resided in East Waterloo Township, being a tenant for several years on one of H. B. Allen's farms. He and his wife moved to Missouri about three years ago.

He leaves no children. Mr. Tompkins had been a sufferer from rheumatism for a great many years and, though it is not definitely known, it is thought that this disease caused his death.

Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
