WATERLOO - Marie Mueller Wirtz, 90, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Gilbertville, daughter of Nickolas and Catherine Wirtz Frost. She married Eldrid Mueller on Sept. 23, 1936, in Hoven, S.D. He died July 7, 1970. She married Nick Wirtz on April 15, 1978, in Dickeyville, Wis. He died Dec. 19, 1987.

Mrs. Wirtz was a homemaker, "The Cake Lady" and volunteered for RSVP for more than 20 years.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Paula) Mueller of Pensacola, Fla., and David (Paulette) Mueller of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Evelyn (Tom) Theisen of Minneapolis and Patricia Eastman of Tulsa, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Jean (Gary) Pint of Elk Run Heights; a stepson, Robert (Judy) Wirtz of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 24 stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norbert (Theresa) Frost of Stayton, Ore., Herbert Frost of Woodburn, Ore., and Robert Frost of Watertown, S.D.; four sisters, Angeline (Francis) Stubenrauch of Stayton, Ore., Loretta Mangrich of Waterloo, Veronica Vetter of Gettysburg, S.D., and Annie Herman of Aberdeen, S.D.; and sister-in-law and friend, Darlene Mueller of Dewar.

Preceded in death by two stepsons, Ronald and James Wirtz; a granddaughter, Suzie Mueller; and three brothers, Wilfred, Joe and LeRoy Frost.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Barclay. Public visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
