TANNREUTHER, LICHTY, KOUGH, BENZER

Edgar M. Tannreuther, 98, of Greenwood, Indiana, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, February 6, at Greenwood Village Pavilion of natural causes.

Edgar was born September 23, 1901 in Waterloo, son of W. O. and Mary Lichty Tannreuther. He married Leone Kough (sister of Reba Tannreuther) in June 1926. She died in September of 1933. A son, William was born to them. In June 1939 Edgar married Evelyn Benzer in Britt, Iowa. She died in June 1998.

Mr. Tannreuther graduated from Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, was a teacher and administrator in Iowa public schools for 11 years, and was a professor of education at Purdue University, State Teachers College in Minot, North Dakota, and Miami Univeristy in Oxford, Ohio. He taught summer school at Duke University, University of Michigan, University of Wyoming, and Indiana State University, retiring in 1968.

He is survived by a son, William of North Olmsted, Ohio; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Orville.

Services were arranged by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood, Indiana Chapel with local burial at Orange Cemetery at a later date.
