TRIBUTE TO MRS. MCMILLAN

Marshalltown Friends Shocked and Deeply Touched By Her Death.

Times-Republican: A death that will prove a shock to a large number of friends in this city and Marshall County occurred Sunday morning at 5:00 o'clock at Hudson, when Mrs. Margaret Miller McMillan, wife of Dr. Edwin Miller McMillan, gave up her life for a baby daughter, now nine days old. Acute septic infection, following the birth of the babe, was the cause of Mrs. McMillan's death.

Mrs. McMillan's death, like that of any other promising young person, is extremely sad. She was an extremely bright and able woman, popular among her many friends and schoolmates while a resident of this city,
and an elocutionist of more than ordinary ability. As a girl Miss Miller came to Marshalltown to attend high school. She became prominent in social circles by reason of her ability as a reader, as well as her charming personality, and made many warm friends

After graduating from the high school with the class of 1897, Miss Miller took a course in elocution in the Commock School, Chicago, and upon finishing took charge of the department of public speaking and elocution of Ellsworth College, Iowa Falls, where she taught three years.

Margaret Miller was a native of this county, having been born on a farm between State Center and Melbourne, March 8, 1880*. She was a daughter of the late A. H. Miller, who died three years ago. Miss Miller was married to Dr. McMillan, a former Marshalltown boy, on March 31, 1904.

Mrs. McMillan is survived by her husband and two baby daughters. Annetta, the older being 19 months; two sisters, Mrs. S. M. Brimhall, of State Center, and Mrs. J. D. Infield, of Bern, Kas., and one brother, Edward G. Miller, of Melbourne; also survive her. Mrs. McMillan's mother died when her baby Margaret, was 11 years old and a sister of Mrs. McMillan, Mrs Daniel Zwilling, of State Center, died in 1896.

The funeral services were held in Hudson Monday afternoon at 2:30, and the body will be brought to this city at 9:50 Tuesday morning for interment in Riverside. Burial will take place directly from the station and Rev. C. W. McCord will conduct a brief prayer service at the grave.
