WATERLOO - Virginia M. Merrill, 88, of Winona, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, died at Sauer Health Care, Winona, on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.

She was born March 24, 1925, in Waterloo, daughter of Roscoe and Elizabeth Reints Neebel. She married Clinton D. Merrill in 1945 in Sioux City and they later divorced.

A 1943 graduate of Waterloo West High School, Ms. Merrill had worked part time as a seamstress for New York Fashion, Arnold's, and Black's Department Store. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Survived by a daughter, Michele Schrandt of St. Charles, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Merrill of Lawler; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Neebel of Waterloo and Richard Neebel of Boise, Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Diane Derifield of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, Tim; a son-in-law, Marvin Schrandt; a grandson; three brothers, Roscoe, William and Roger Neebel; and a sister, Elizabeth Kelly

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Valley Lutheran School.
