CEDAR FALLS -- Lloyd Ernest Swanson, 92, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Bloomington, Minn., died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Western Home Communities Thalman Square.

He was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Minneapolis, son of Ernest Victor and Ellen Sophia Ostrom Swanson. He married Phyllis Johnson on Feb. 5, 1949, in Minneapolis.

He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Minneapolis, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Swanson was a machinist with Jari Corp. and Clover Leaf Creamery, both in Minneapolis, retiring in 1981.

Survived by his wife; a son, Gregory (Robin) of Savage, Minn.; two daughters, Dawn (Steve) Ford of Cedar Falls and Deb (Mark) Otto of Omaha, Neb.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Swanson; a brother, Vernon; and a sister, Marjorie Swanson.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Oxboro Evangelical Free Church, Bloomington. Visitation will be for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Albin Chapel, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home are assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association or Western Home Communities Thalman Square.
