WASHBURN - Charlene M. Masters, 102, of Washburn, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at La Porte City Nursing & Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 30, 1911, in Oelwein, daughter of Burle L. and Emma Zacharias Hancock. She married Arthur L. Masters on June 12, 1929, in Fayette; he preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2004.

She and her husband were one of the founding members of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Washburn.

Survived by two grandchildren, Craig Hilton of Waterloo and Meri Ann (Tim) Merrick of Washburn; two great-grandchildren, Dustin (Brittney) Merrick of Waverly and Katie Hilton of Waterloo; and four great-great-grandchildren, Abby Jo Merrick, Emma Renee Merrick, Emeri Ann Merrick and Aadyn Hilton.

Preceded in death by her parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Marlys (Dick) Hilton; and a sister, Arlene Lennon.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
