WATERLOO - Verla Mae Weekley, 74, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness.

She was born June 20, 1933, in Tripoli, daughter of Paul and Helen Garland Klenzman. She married Donald K. Weekley on Sept. 1, 1951, in Waterloo. He died Oct. 13, 1966.

Mrs. Weekley was a senior companion with Hawkeye Area Valley Agency On Aging for several years. She was a Salvation Army Soldier for many years where she was involved with the Home League and was an active volunteer.

Survived by a son, Donald Jr.; five daughters, Jackie (Chuck) Fosselman, Karen Weekley and JoAnn Phillips, all of Waterloo, Donna (Steve) Fox of Gardner, Kan., and Julie (Rocky) Armstrong of Eldorado Hills, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, Lisa, Sheila, Krista, Nicki, Jerry, Angie, Kenny, Ricky, Gina, Anthony, Teresa, Michael, Hope, Katie and Dusty; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Karen) Klenzman of Tripoli; a sister, JoAnn Parker of Waterloo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a granddaughter, Robin.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Salvation Army, with burial in Poyner Township Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and at the Salvation Army for an hour before services on Wednesday.

Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Verla was a loving and giving person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
