Stanley J. Koch, 80, of Waterloo died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born March 18, 1927, in Waterloo the son of John W. and Rose Elizabeth Baumgartner Koch. He married Elizabeth Robert on June 22, 1957 in Waterloo. She died April 26, 1991. Mr. Koch was a graduate of St. Marys High School in 1945. He attended Loras College in Dubuque and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in accounting. He was part owner of John W. Koch & Sons Plumbing and Heating for 40 years.

Survivors include two sons, Richard of Waterloo and Dave (Ann) of Brooklyn Park, MN.; two daughters, Karen (Tom) Simmons of Longmont, CO. and Liz (Geoff) Miller of Waterloo; 8 grandchildren: Linda Koch of Bloomington, MN; Nicole Koch and Shannan Koch both of Hastings, MN; Brandon Cathers of Bloomington, MN; Tommy Simmons Jr. of Longmont, CO, Matthew Miller, Emilee Miller and Joshua Miller all of Waterloo; two great-grandchildren, Cody Koch and Orlando Harris of Hastings, MN.; a brother, Paul (Delores) of Waterloo, a brother-in-law, Leo Beierschmit of Fairbank, a sister-in-law, Mary Beth Koch of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents his wife, two brothers, Robert and Kenneth, a sister Barbara Beierschmit, a sister-in-law, Eileen Koch.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will 4 p.m. Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Catholic Worker House or Waterloo Public Library.
