Funeral services for Lew W. Marker, 80, of 521 Pine Street, who died of chronic myocarditis at 12:35 p. m. Wednesday at an Independence Hospital, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Gunnell, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

Born Feb. 8, 1866, at Ligonier, Ind., the son of George and Mary Marker, he was first employed in 1887 by the old Lake Shore Railroad, now a part of the New York Central, out of Elkhart, Ind. He was married to Nellie A. Haywood Jan. 24, 1894, at Elkhart. They came here in 1901, at which time became employed by the Iowa division of the Illinois Central system as engineer on the Waterloo to Freeport, Ill. run.

He was a member of Christ Episcopal, the Masonic lodge, and the Waterloo chapter Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Surviving are one son, George 320 Columbia Circle; two grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. T. H. Head, Ligonier.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June 19, 1941, and one brother.
