WATERLOO - Virginia H. Weidner, 88, of Friendship Village, died there Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.

She was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Luxemburg, daughter of Edward and Anastasia Ungs Hogan. She married Hamilton Weidner on July 6, 1968, in Chicago. He died July 29, 1998.

She graduated from OLVA High School in 1942. She received her RN degree from Allen School of Nursing in 1977 and then a bachelor's degree in community health education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1980. She was a keypunch operator for Rath Packing from 1942 to 1952, and a keypunch supervisor at Avon Products in Chicago from 1952 to 1968. She later was a registered nurse at Covenant Medical Center. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

Survived by two stepsons, Steve (Kate) Weidner and Mark (Charlotte) Weidner, both of Waterloo; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Hogan of Chicago and Carol Reyhons of Davenport; two sisters-in-law, Lois Meyer of N. Muskegon, Mich., and Marlene Hogan of Waterloo; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by three brothers, James, Kenneth and Monsignor Robert Hogan.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 4:30 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary service and a 7 p.m. vigil service at Locke Funeral Home. Visitation continues for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
