EVANSDALE - Services for Othel 'Odie" E. Gruver, 68, of 218 Clark St. will be 1 p.m. Saturday at The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Mr. Gruver died Wednesday (Oct. 8, 1986) at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines.

He was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Waterloo, son of Arthur Vincent and Kate Yockey Gruver. He married Ardene Lymmon on July 3, 1936, in Waterloo.

He was employed for 34 years at John Deere, retiring in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons: Dean of 170 Letsch Road, Waterloo, Terry of 2413 Minnetonka Drive, Cedar Falls, and Ted of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Diane Sue Hanson of 1280 Deloris Drive; a brother, Everett of Marshalltown; four sisters: Marie Wilson of 1108 Lindner Drive, Waterloo, Mable Card of 210 South Evans Road. Berneice Carr of 605 Avon Ave., Waterloo, and Mary Jensen of 317 Conger St., Waterloo; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Kay, and a brother, Val.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until services Saturday.
