WATERLOO - Paul Anthony Schmitt, 49, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born May 6, 1964, in Waterloo, son of Norman and Marilyn Marquardt Schmitt. He married Lori J. Moore on Sept. 21, 1985, in Oelwein.

Mr. Schmitt graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1982 and took five years of advanced courses through Hawkeye Community College. He was employed at Waterloo Implement as a heavy duty truck mechanic, a truck driver for North Cedar Trucking and a hobby mechanic in his free time.

Survived by his wife; a son, Cory of Platteville, Wis.; a daughter, Megan (Kevin) Kaiser of Waterloo; his parents of Fairbank; a brother, Rodney (Patty) of Springhill, Tenn.; and two sisters, Madonna (John) Hoth and Michelle Snitselaar, both of Marion.

Preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dennis Moore; and a brother-in-law, Robbie Casey.

Services: 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with a 2:30 p.m. graveside service at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
