WATERLOO - Glenn Dale Franklin, 80, of Waterloo, died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born March 5, 1926, in Pleasant Hill, Ill., son of Claude and Alma Ator Franklin. He married Phyllis B. Young on March 29, 1947, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She preceded him in death Jan. 20, 1999.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Glenn was a self-employed commercial refrigeration and air conditioning specialist for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 105 in Waterloo, the Cedar Falls AMVETS, the Waterloo VFW, and also was active with the Eagle and Moose lodges.

Survived by two sons, Dennis (Barbara) of Powell's Point, N.C., and Bo G.D. (Denise) of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Peggy (Dwain) Homolar of Waterloo, Brenda J. Dolan of New York, N.Y., and Joni (Daniel) Coffin of Longmont, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Kenny) Wombles of Louisiana, Mo.; and his companion, Shirley Carroll of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and two brothers, Maynard F. and Claude "Hubert."

Memorial services: 7 p.m. Monday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories. Public visitation from 4 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Interment of ashes will be held privately at Garden of Memories.
